RV function trainer: learn to assess the right ventricle on echo
A free simulator of right ventricular echocardiography. Every case shows an RV-focused apical 4-chamber, a standard apical 4-chamber, a short-axis and a parasternal long-axis view of a beating heart. Because the heart is simulated, TAPSE, fractional area change, RV diameters and wall thickness are known exactly.
What you can practise
- Visual RV assessment: is the RV dilated or hypertrophied?
- Overall, radial and longitudinal RV systolic function
- Septal flattening in systole and diastole: pressure versus volume overload
- McConnell's sign in acute pulmonary embolism, RV infarction, and RV hypertrabeculation (non-compaction)
Guides
- How to assess RV function on echo: TAPSE, FAC, Sā² and strain
- RV size on echo: basal diameter, RV:LV ratio and wall thickness
- Septal flattening: pressure and volume overload, McConnell's sign
Also: visual EF and wall motion training and stress echo training.
