Agitated saline bubble study report, from the septum to the grade

Pick the findings from a structured form and Echo Wizard writes the full agitated saline contrast report: the baseline septum, who scanned and injected, consent, access, injections, timing, shunt level and the grade at rest, with Valsalva and with sniff.

Completed bubble study form: mobile septum, thick septum secundum, five injections, positive only after a manoeuvre at 3 cycles, grade 1 at rest, 3 with Valsalva and 2 with sniff, with the generated report underneath.
Positive only after a manoeuvre, early at 3 cycles. Grade 1 at rest, 3 with Valsalva, 2 with sniff.

What you enter

What comes back

A report in the order a reader expects, opening “Physiologist-Led Agitated Saline Echocardiogram” and ending with a conclusion such as “Positive agitated saline contrast study only after provocative manoeuvres; negative at rest. Bubbles appeared early in the left heart at 3 cardiac cycles after right-heart opacification, favouring an intracardiac shunt.” The three grades are spelled out underneath.

Which structure it follows

The form and the wording follow the BSE structured report for agitated saline contrast transthoracic echocardiography (Rana et al., Echo Research and Practice, 2026). The source is named on the tool.

Questions about the bubble study tool

Does it decide whether the shunt is a PFO?

No. It writes what you selected: the timing, the pattern and your impression of the shunt level. The interpretation is yours.

What if a manoeuvre was not performed?

Set its grade to “Not performed” and leave the injection count at zero. The report leaves it out.

Are the scanner and injector names stored?

No. Like the other clinical tools, the text is drafted and returned to your screen, and nothing you typed is kept.
